Tools that overwrite make people conservative. You get an image that is good enough, and then you stop, because the next attempt might be worse and you would have lost the one you had. A tree removes that calculation entirely: the good version is permanent, so the experiment costs a credit and nothing else.
Go back three steps and take a different route without undoing what came after.

Questions, answered.
Does a redraw replace what I had?
Never. Each generation is a new node, and the one you generated from stays exactly where it was. There is no overwrite step to be careful about.
What is an orphan branch?
A version you generated and then moved away from. It stays on the tree, greyed out, so an idea you abandoned at midnight is still there in the morning.
Can I compare two versions properly?
Yes. Put them side by side, and zoom either one. Comparing at thumbnail size is how people talk themselves into the worse image.
Do old versions count against my storage or credits?
Credits are spent when an image is generated, once. Keeping it afterwards costs nothing, and there is no per-version charge.
Is the tree available on the free plan?
Yes. Revision history is not a paid feature. What plans change is how many new generations you can make each month.
